Founded in 2017 by Peter Nam — the same individual behind elite aero and wheel brand Vorsteiner — Gunther Werks has only existed for a little over half a decade, yet in that time the Southern California shop has established itself as one of the world’s premier Porsche tuning outfits, rivaled only by the likes of Singer. And while Gunther Werks’ current lineup consists of just three models, it does occasionally take on unique one-off endeavors — the latest of which is known as the Touring Turbo Edition Coupe.
In typical Gunther Werks fashion, this 911 restomod is powered by a custom-developed and tuned Rothsport Racing twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter straight six engine that now puts down 750 hp — a 50hp boost over the normal Gunther Werks Turbo model. The straight six has also been mated to a Getrag six-speed manual transmission. Mounted behind the driver, the engine also benefits from a custom carbon fiber cover and a bespoke 4.0L-branded dual intake setup. A bespoke cross-structural brace also sits between the cabin and engine bay.
The exterior of the car wears a full suite of custom carbon fiber bodywork that’s based on Gunther Werks’ existing Turbo platform. This widebody setup has been cloaked in a matte gray livery that’s been complemented via swaths of exposed carbon fiber that also sport a matte finish. A new front splitter, a revised hood, and a carbon duck tail spoiler have also been added to the mix. Also benefitting from a fully bespoke conversion, the interior of the car has also been completely reworked, and now features carbon fiber door panels, a carbon dash and trim package, and carbon-backed seats that, like the steering wheel, has been trimmed in Alcantara.
The Gunther Werks Touring Turbo Edition Coupe was unveiled over the weekend at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering. While this build is already spoken for, the shop is currently accepting commissions for future builds.
