Purists, shield your eyes – or better yet, don’t. Because what UK-based electric conversion specialist Everrati has created with this one-off Porsche 964 might just change how you feel about classic EVs. Dubbed the “Viper Commission” for its eye-searing Viper Green paint job, this electrified 911 proves that losing the flat-six doesn’t mean losing the soul of a Porsche. In fact, this particular conversion might just be the perfect way to preserve an icon while making it daily-drivable in our increasingly emissions-conscious world.

The Viper Commission isn’t just any 964 with some batteries stuffed in the frunk. It’s a thoughtfully engineered, carbon-fiber-clad wide-body creation that retains the iconic lines and driving character of the original while cranking the performance dial well past what left the Stuttgart factory back in the early ’90s.

When Viper Green Meets Clean Machine

Let’s get the obvious out of the way first – that color. Viper Green isn’t subtle, but on the flared haunches of a wide-body 964, it looks absolutely perfect. The owner, reportedly a climate change activist, clearly didn’t want to sacrifice visual excitement while going emissions-free.

The wide-body treatment gives the 911 a muscular stance that’s complemented by tasteful carbon fiber elements and subtle black stripes running the length of the car. Everrati also added their understated black engraved badging to the rear, but otherwise kept the classic 911 silhouette intact. This isn’t a car trying to hide its heritage – it’s celebrating it while acknowledging that powertrains evolve.

Electric Performance That Makes Sense

While most EV conversions struggle with weight distribution (have you ever tried to fit batteries in a rear-engined car?), Everrati has managed to maintain the 964’s handling characteristics by carefully engineering the 62kWh lithium-ion battery pack and electric motors to preserve the car’s balance. According to the official specs, the electrified 911 produces 500 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque – that’s more than double the original 964’s output of 247 hp.

This newfound power translates to a 0-60 mph time of “under 4 seconds” (Everrati isn’t being more specific, but the original took 5.5 seconds with a manual), meaning this vintage-looking Porsche will happily embarrass plenty of modern sports cars at the stoplight. More importantly, the company claims they’ve maintained close to the original weight and weight distribution, which is the holy grail of EV conversions.

The 62kWh battery pack provides around 200 miles of range – not Tesla territory, but more than enough for spirited weekend drives or even daily use. And it supports both AC and DC fast charging, making it genuinely practical for longer trips.

Driving Dynamics That Don’t Disappoint

Electrifying a classic Porsche risks losing the mechanical connection that makes these cars special, but Everrati has taken steps to ensure the driving experience remains engaging. The Viper features a Quaife ATB torque-biasing differential and Tractive electronically adjustable suspension with a dedicated controller, allowing the driver to fine-tune the car’s handling characteristics.

Perhaps most interestingly, Everrati lists “Active Sound” as an optional extra – suggesting that while the flat-six might be gone, something akin to its soundtrack could be recreated if the owner desires. It’s a concession to nostalgia that some might scoff at, but in a world of synthesized engine notes in modern cars, it’s hardly the cardinal sin purists might claim.

A Modern Interior That Respects Tradition

Inside, the Viper Commission continues the theme of respectful modernization. Black leather with gray cross-stitching creates a sporting but sophisticated cabin atmosphere. Rather than slapping a Tesla-style screen in the middle of the dash, Everrati has developed custom Porsche-inspired 5-gauge cluster dials that maintain the vintage appearance while displaying vital EV information.

Modern amenities include a completely rebuilt heating and air conditioning system (always a weak point in classic 911s), along with contemporary connectivity including full navigation, DAB+, Bluetooth, and Apple CarPlay. It’s the kind of thoughtful upgrade that makes classic ownership viable for those who refuse to sacrifice modern convenience.

The Ultimate Restomod?

What makes the Viper Commission particularly interesting is Everrati’s approach to preservation. Unlike some conversions that permanently alter the vehicle, Everrati designs their systems to be reversible, maintaining the car’s structural integrity and future value. It’s a nod to the collector market that recognizes these cars as investments as much as they are transportation.

The entire car was restored to the highest level by Porsche specialists before the conversion process began, ensuring the foundation was solid. This isn’t a quick flip of a tired 964 – it’s a ground-up rebuild with electric power as the cherry on top.
