After building more than 70 custom bikes for clients across 12 countries and completing their limited TYPE20 Yamaha XS400 series, the German outfit spent some serious time soul-searching about their future direction. What emerged is a completely fresh approach to customization – developing comprehensive bolt-on kits for modern motorcycles that anyone can install, regardless of mechanical ability.

The Alps Edition for the Triumph Scrambler 1200 is their first offering, and we’re genuinely impressed by how dramatically it transforms the bike’s personality while enhancing what already makes the Scrambler 1200 great.

IKEA-Style Customization

As we previously mentioned, what makes the Alps Edition so revolutionary is its true plug-and-play nature. Every single component arrives pre-assembled, with all necessary hardware and even the correct tools included. If you can assemble a bookshelf, you can install this kit. No drilling, cutting, or permanent modifications required – everything attaches to existing mounting points on the bike, preserving warranty and making it fully reversible if you ever decide to sell.

The headlight fairing exemplifies this approach perfectly. It’s a gorgeous, hand-sculpted piece that gives the Scrambler a neo-retro rally aesthetic while wrapping around the factory LED headlight and dashboard. Instead of replacing these components or requiring complex wiring, it simply bolts to the original turn signal mounts in minutes. The production version even integrates custom turn signals directly into the fairing housing for a seamless look.

The Modular Masterpiece

Arguably the most ingenious part of the Alps Edition is the modular seat system. The standard configuration provides seating for both rider and passenger. Remove the rear section, however, and you’re left with a slim solo seat that reveals an integrated aluminum luggage rack. This isn’t just about looks – the system shifts cargo weight further forward for better handling, addressing a common issue with traditional rear racks that load up the back end.

What really caught our attention was the thoughtful 3D-printed hump that creates the visual illusion of the rear fender continuing underneath the luggage rack. It’s inspired by classic Dakar Rally bikes and offers that perfect blend of form and function that true motorcycle enthusiasts appreciate.

Functional Art

While most bolt-on kits focus solely on aesthetics, Crooked hasn’t forgotten that motorcycles are meant to be ridden. The redesigned front fender not only looks great but includes a cleverly integrated air duct that directs airflow to the radiator – important for a bike that might find itself climbing Alpine passes in the summer. An aluminum skid plate extends protection to the vulnerable radiator hose up front, while a new aluminum chain guard adds both style and function.

Each component began life as a hand-shaped clay model before being 3D scanned, digitally refined, and then manufactured using appropriate materials for its purpose.

The Alps Edition represents just the beginning of Crooked’s new direction. The team plans to release two new MotoKits each year across various motorcycle brands and styles.
