If you thought there was no room left for innovation in the age-old art of boatmaking, think again. Since 2014, Candela has made huge strides in the way of electric seafarers, introducing the first electric hydrofoil model just five years later with the C-7.
Now, Candela offers its newest innovation in the area of battery propulsion with the C-8, an electric boat that runs, essentially, above water thanks to the innovative use of silent hydrofoils beneath it. Not only does the powerboat cut through the sea with less resistance but does so without leaving wakes behind it. Sleeping up to two adults and two children, the interior is also built for comfort and luxury with a premium sound system and spacious cabin.
The C-POD motor is optimized for use with the hydrofoils, enabling the vehicle to travel over 50 nautical miles on a single charge, and at high speeds! Likewise, Candela has stated that the C-POD will last you a lifetime without any maintenance whatsoever. Built for both safety and efficiency, the Flight Controller avionic system adjusts the hydrofoils automatically according to the weather and sea conditions.
Available in hard-top, day cruiser, and T-top versions, the Candela C-8 is priced at €330,000 (~$330,710) with a projected 2024 delivery.
