The brand’s latest clamshell, the Convoy, stands 5″ tall and weighs a mere 122 pounds, which are a couple of unprecedented numbers to accompany one another when it comes to any build of this class. No matter the height, the Convoy’s aerodynamic low-profile is geared to fit in most garages and even reduce wind noise. Additionally, buyers have the option to add its moonroof which offers a wildly wide 4′ by 6′ opening, boasting a sweeping 360-degree view that was meant for glancing at the night sky. On the other hand, Badass Tents’ Rugged model stands at 4″ tall and weighs 105 pounds — making it the thinnest and lightest hardtop tent on the market, according to the company. With its ultra-thin, full-size weave windows, you can depend on a bug-free experience while still getting a great view of the outdoors.
These rooftop tents are a pair of the lightest hardtops you can find on the market and look to hold up exceptionally well. However, as of right now, the $4,100+ Convoy is only available for purchase to fit a quartet of models: Toyota 4Runner (2009-2022), Land Rover’s Defender 110 (2020-22), Discovery 5 (2017-22), and LR3/LR4 (2005-2016).
