Auction Block: Zero SR/F By Tinker Hatfield x SEE SEE Motorcycles

Photos: Bonhams

Tinker Hatfield is arguably the most legendary sneaker designer of all time, famously being the force behind a slew of thoroughly iconic kicks including several iterations of Nike’s Air Max and Air Jordan models. While working with Michael Jordan, Tinker happened to ride a scooter — something MJ would routinely tease Hatfield about until he was eventually inspired to buy a “real motorcycle,” ultimately kicking off the sneaker designer’s passion for two-wheelers. And after several decades in the saddle, Tinker Hatfield has now applied his world-class design chops to the customization of an all-electric Zero motorcycle.

Starting with a new SR/F — Zero’s cutting-edge naked sport bike — Tinker has partnered with Thor Drake, owner and founder of Portland’s SEE SEE Motorcycles, to heavily modify the two-wheeled EV without compromising its performance capabilities. This includes treating the SR/F to riveted-style bodywork panels, a repainted frame and wheels, and a bespoke seat covered in a piece of art by Drat Diestler. Other noteworthy performance and cosmetic upgrades also include a massive custom rear sprocket with a cutout SEE SEE logo, handlebars, bar-end weights, indicators, and lighting from top-shelf Italian outfit Rizoma, top-of-the-line Ohlins suspension front and aft, and equally premium Brembo brakes.

This customized Zero SR/F from Tinker Hatfield and SEE SEE Motorcycles is slated to cross the auction block — without reserve — at Bonhams’ upcoming Modern Design & Art sale in Los Angeles on October 21. Proceeds from the sale will also benefit the Friends of Columbia County. In addition to the bike, stand, and charging cables, the sale also includes the original artwork from Drat Diestler that now adorns the seat.
