As wonderful a sentiment as it carries, the term “one of a kind” is criminally overused. All too often, we see things on the internet being hyperbolically marketed to be “the most unique,” “one in a million,” or “like no other,” when in reality, it’s just descriptive fodder to make a ubiquitous item cut through the noise. Thankfully, there are times when something that actually fits the bill enters into our periphery and catches our attention. In this case, it’s the iconic rally car, the 2003 Mitsubishi Evolution VIl Xtreme SC, which was the former press car for Ralliart UK (AKA Xtreme Dudley).
The Mitsubishi Evolution VII Xtreme SC seen here is the only one in existence and was the poster car for Ralliart UK, proudly presented on the homepage of their website during its heyday. As the pinnacle of Ralliart UK’s “specials,” the Xtreme SC was customized by their workshop manager at the time to be their most powerful car to date. It was outfitted with a turbocharged 2.2L 4-cylinder engine making 458 hp and 410 ft/lb of torque, powering a 0-60 time of just 3.5 secs. The Xtreme SC was soon sold to a private buyer in 2005 who wished to push the already impressive envelope even further by adding £30,000 (roughly $41,000) in alterations. Most of these alterations came in the form of parts like a roll cage, Veilside body kit, carbon fiber doors, Proflex jumbo 4 coil-overs, and new rims.
From 2008 to 2020, the Xtreme SC mostly lived in dry storage, occasionally getting serviced as well as changing ownership. In February of 2020, the new owner commissioned one of the original mechanics that built the Xtreme SC to return it to its exact 2003 build specifications. Now fully back in its glorious original form, the Xtreme SC awaits new ownership as part of a live auction from Silverstone Auctions on Saturday, November 13.
