Though Mercedes-Benz now produces everything from fully electric sedans to luxury SUVs, small sporty roadsters have always been at the core of the brand’s identity. Models like the iconic 300 SL Gullwing have played pivotal roles in its history — both on the road, and on the race track — and were instrumental in establishing its DNA.
And the German marque continues its tradition of delivering performance two-seaters with its latest automotive release, the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 PRO 4MATIC+.
The Basics
The latest AMG GT 63 PRO was born out of an evolutionary approach rather than a revolutionary one, with the vehicle receiving a host of minor tweaks and improvements instead of a comprehensive redesign from the ground up — with improved cooling, enhanced aerodynamics, and even more power on tap being at the top of the list of the 2025 model year’s highlights.
A Hand-Built Engine
The AMG GT 63 PRO features a modified engine that’s been massaged in order to deliver even more power. Built by hand by a single expert mechanic, the car’s motor consists of a AMG 4.0-liter V8 fitted with the brand’s Bi-Turbo (twin turbocharger) system. The entire motor also hugely benefits from the use of a heavily-updated cooling system with twin radiators positioned left and right of the front wheel arches in order to bolster overall efficiency.
Power & Performance
Making 26 more horsepower than the already-decidedly-potent AMG GT 63, the GT 63 PRO puts down a whopping 603hp and 627ft-lbs of torque — all of which is sent to the ground via the AMG Performance 4MATIC+ fully variable all-wheel drive system. This ultimately allow the roadster to reach 60mph from a complete standstill in just 3.1 seconds, and achieve a top speed of 197mph.
Wheels & Hardware
The AMG GT 63 PRO rides on a set of lightweight AMG Performance 21” forged split-spoke wheels that come fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport 5 tires as standard — though can also be upgraded to more track-focused Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R extreme performance tires at no extra cost. The forged wheel set comes fitted with AMG carbon-ceramic brakes with black-finished six-pot calipers and 16.5” titanium-cored discs.
Bodywork & Aero
In addition to a performance wheel-set and tires and an AMG Performance steering wheel, the GT 63 PRO also comes outfitted with the AMG Exterior Carbon Fiber Package as standard. This setup includes a front splitter, side sill trims, a rear diffuser, and a rear wing all crafted from carbon fiber — much of which is left exposed on full display. Also included is an updated front fascia with AMG’s AIRPANEL active air control system and carbon fiber air deflectors set around the front-end’s enlarged side air intakes, as well as an active aerodynamic underbody profile — all of which comes as standard, as well.
What Makes it Special
There are plenty of small performance roadsters on the market, but few possess the overall elegance and daily drivability of the GT 63 PRO. While it has a decidedly sleek appearance, it’s not over-the-top exotic, making it an even better commuter. It shines even more on the race track thanks to its ultra-nimble handling, active aero elements, bevy of carbon bits, and twin-turbo V8 — and the 3.1-second 0-60 time and nearly-200-mph top speed it allows for. By adding a massive host of premium options all as standard, Mercedes-AMG also ensures every one of the newest GT 63 PROs that hit the road will be even more capable than its predecessors.
