For years, Tesla dominated the luxury electric vehicle space. The California car-maker’s marketshare has recently taken a major dip, however, as a growing number of other EV automotive startups have begun debuting their own all-electric offerings, making for an ever-more competitive segment. And one of the latest luxury EVs to break cover — and to take aim squarely at Tesla — is Lucid Motors with its all-new Gravity SUV.
Spanning 198.2” in length, 78.7” across, and boasting a wheelbase of 119.5”, the Lucid Gravity SUV is a full-size sport utility vehicle with three rows of seating and room for up to seven passengers. Despite its size, the use of Lucid’s award-winning, proprietary electric powertrain has allowed this all-electric SUV to deliver a best-in-class range of 440-miles on a single charge, plus can gain an additional 200 miles of autonomy after just 15 minutes of charging — thanks to 300-kW charging capabilities. Kicked along by the most power-dense EV motors currently in production, the Gravity’s 596.5-kW (800-hp) system allows it to clock 0-60mph runs in 3.5 seconds, while still delivering payload and towing capacities of 1,500lbs and 6,000lbs, respectively.
Like the Lucid Air, the Lucid Gravity sports a sleek exterior design with a super slippery drag coefficient of just 0.24cd. On top of 20” to 23” wheel options, the SUV is also offered with an available adaptive air suspension package. As one would expect from a cutting-edge luxury EV, the Gravity comes loaded with an impressive suite of state-of-the-art technology and features including adaptive headlights, autonomous driving capabilities, an ultra-advanced suite of sensors, a 34” floating 6K display, onboard wireless charging, and a 22-speaker Surreal Sound Pro audio system with Dolby Atos.
The 2025 Lucid Gravity SUV is slated to enter production in late 2024. And while an MSRP for the electric SUV has yet to be revealed, Lucid has stated that base model pricing will start at under $80,0000.
