It’s always exciting whenever Mercedes-Benz announces a new car. Especially when it’s slated to be an update on one of the marque’s best-selling ranges of cars, the E-Class (along with the popular C-Class as well). In an effort to streamline the label’s range of models (and replace both class lineups), Mercedes has just announced the 2024 Mercedes CLE, a sporty two-door coupe based on the innovations from both the C-Class and E-Class.
Under the hood, the engines available will all be mild hybrids (MHEV) with a 48-volt electrical system and an integrated starter generator. You also have the choice between a 2.0-liter four-cylinder drivetrain (with 255 hp) and a 3.0-liter inline-six powertrain (with 376 hp). This is also the largest coupe in the midsize segment, coming in at 191 inches long, with a wheelbase that’s an inch longer and 2.1 cubic feet of extra trunk space. As for the body, the CLE definitely looks a lot like the current C-Class, with a low grille (which has been redesigned) and tapering on the nose, but it sets itself apart with shaped edges and a muscular back end. The coupe also has new LED High Performance headlights, with the option to get Digital Light headlights that feature a projection function.
Inside, we have the third-generation MBUX infotainment system on an 11.9-inch central display oriented to the driver, along with a free-standing 12.3-inch digital driver display. And for sound, you’re getting the Burmester 3D surround sound system with Dolby Atmos, further enhanced by two speakers near the headrest on the two front seats.
The 2024 Mercedes CLE will hit US dealerships in early 2024 and will go on sale in Europe starting this November. The Mercedes CLE Cabriolet will be coming to both continents at the same time later in 2024.
