Though the Lexus GX is markedly more luxurious and refined than its cheaper counterparts, that doesn’t mean the all-new generation of this luxury SUV doesn’t also boast an impressive level of durability and go-anywhere capabilities — traits Lexus is now highlighting via its latest one-off SEMA build known as the 2024 Lexus GX 550 Overtrail+ AAP.
Based on the new-ken GX 550 that Lexus first debuted back in June, the GX 550 Overtrail+ AAP build wonderfully demonstrates the platform’s potential for off-road and overland builds. At the heart of the build is the SUV’s standard twin-turbocharged 3.4-liter V6 engine that puts down 349hp and 479ft-lbs of torque. The build rides on a set of blacked-out 18” wheels shod in 33” Toyo Open Country A/T tires and also features a custom set of fender flares that open up space for the vehicle’s larger wheels and tires and increased suspension travel.
On top of an aluminum skid plate and all-weather floor liners, the build also draws heavily from Lexus’ Associated Accessory Products catalog and includes available rock-rails, black badging throughout, and an onboard tire compressor. The exterior of the vehicle has also received a plethora of aftermarket upgrades. This includes a Prinsu Roof Rack that now accommodates a Pelican BX90R Cargo Case and a BX55S Cargo Case. Prinsu also provided the project’s Rear Window Accessory Panels on both rear windows and its roof access ladder. Rounding out this one-off SEMA build are a pair of rotoPax two-gallon containers, a DMOS Delta Shovel, and ARB TRED Pro recovery boards.
The 2024 Lexus GX 550 Overtrail+ AAP SEMA Build is currently on display in Las Vegas at the ongoing automotive trade show where it will remain until the event’s conclusion. This GX build was also debuted alongside two additional one-offs that were also based on the new generation of the luxury SUV.
