Harley’s LiveWire Sub-Brand Unveils a Tracker-Inspired Electric Motorcycle

Over the summer of 2021, Harley-Davidson announced the launch of an all-new electric motorcycle sub-division known simply as LiveWire — a name that was also used for the Milwaukee marque’s first eBike model. And after previously pulling the cover off of the new brand’s One model, the company has now revealed its next all-electric two-wheeled offering with the all-new S2 Del Mar.

Taking ample influence from flat track bikes, the S2 Del Mar sports a tracker-themed tail section, tracker bars, a low-profile, knee-dented “tank cover,” and a Fat Bob-style LED headlight tucked beneath a small windscreen. The S2 also rides on a set of fast-and-left-appropriate 19” wheels that come shod in Dunlop DT1 tires that were developed specifically for the new LiveWire model. LiveWire has also used the S2 to debut its all-new scalable ARROW architecture, which is a highly modular system that features a proprietary battery, electric motor, charging, and control systems.

While final specs have yet to be announced, LiveWire has revealed some impressive target goals for the S2, including a 59.6-kW (80-hp) motor, a 100-mile range, a 3.5-second 0-60mph time, and a curb weight of 440lbs or less. The new eBike also gets Brembo brakes, an inverted fork, and a custom swing-arm design paired with a mono-shock. And, with a hipper, tracker-inspired aesthetic, a heavy custom influence, and a more affordable MSRP, we’d argue this is the EV that Harley should have originally released rather than the LiveWire One — especially considering the MoCo’s venture into eBikes was done specifically to attract a younger demographic.

Assembled at Harley-Davidson’s Vehicle Operations plant in York, Pennsylvania, the 2023 LiveWire S2 Del Mar boasts a target MSRP of $15,000 and is expected to begin deliveries in the Spring of next year. LiveWire will also be producing a limited run of 100 S2 Del Mar Launch Edition models — priced at $17,699 — that feature a unique livery and a model-exclusive wheel design, though all 100 units have already been sold.
