Originally unveiled half a decade ago in prototype form, Yamaha’s Ténéré 700 — or “T7” — is a Dakar-inspired, mid-sized adventure motorcycle that was first released in 2019. As one of the most capable stock ADV models currently on the market, the Ténéré 700 was a logical choice of donor bike for the second iteration of the Overland Expo’s Ultimate Overland Motorcycle — a thoroughly-kitted, hardcore off-roader equipped with some of the latest and greatest aftermarket parts and upgrades.
Giving the Ténéré even more off-road prowess are upper and lower crash bars, a 4.0mm aluminum skid-plate, side pannier frames, and passenger grab handles from Outback Motortek, as well as upgraded stainless steel lines, a DualControl Brake System, RUBY LED auxiliary lights set in billet aluminum housings, Backcountry Panniers, a Backcountry 30L Duffel from Mosko Moto mounted using a ‘Speed-Pin’ latch system, and a high fender kit, tail tidy, laser-cut 14-gauge aluminum radiator guard, a billet aluminum water pump guard, Adventure II footpegs, and 30mm risers all from AltRider. The Yamaha’s stock suspension has also been replaced with TracTive X-TREME long travel components that afford over 9” of travel front and aft.
In addition to carrying a COMBAR Pro Titanium survival multi-tool, the bike is also equipped with a Mosko Moto Fatty Tool Roll housing an SBVTools kit, a 2.0-liter hydration reservoir, a ZOLEO satellite communicator, and a RAM Mounts phone mount. Other upgrades include Doubletake Mirrors and Bridgestone Battlax ADVENTURECROSS AX41 tires. The project’s final touch came in the form of a topographic-themed vinyl livery wrap courtesy of Taco Moto.
Once the Overland Expo’s T7 finishes making its rounds at all four of this year’s events, the 2022 Yamaha Ténéré 700 “Ultimate Overland Motorcycle” will be auctioned off on Bring a Trailer with 100% of proceeds going to the Overland Expo Foundation charity.
