Whenever Manhart gets its fine-tuning hands on any vehicle, it’s almost always guaranteed to impress. This has been the case with the tuner’s bolstered Bimmers and aggressive Audis, but we’d be remiss to overlook another integral German manufacturer in Mercedes-Benz — not to mention performance sub-brand Mercedes-AMG. Looking to take on yet another luxury model from the three-pointed star’s portfolio, the tuning outfit from down the block has announced its plans to begin boosting the latest Mercedes-AMG SL model.
The revamped roadster takes on major improvements courtesy of Manhart’s turbo performance kit, boasting 800hp and over 737lb-ft of torque, which is simply bewildering compared to the 2022 Mercedes-AMG SL’s stock option of 577hp and 590lb-ft. But, as we said, this is more of what we’ve come to expect from Manhart. The tuners’ signature kit consists of turbochargers, a carbon-fiber intake system, and an intercooler.
While it’s hard to rival the reinforced performance specs, Manhart still managed to transform this already gorgeous vehicle into a rather elegant speed demon. The SL 800 R is finished off with a black exterior and accentuated gold decals, each of which has proved to be the tuners’ signature touches. Rounding out the opulent Roadster is a quartet of Manhart’s double-spoke, Concave One wheels, highlighted by even more gold. Lastly, the SL 800 R has been lowered to provide a sleeker and more aggressive stance.
Mercedes-Benz’s high-speed subsidiary already made major waves upon announcing its latest SL models last year, so it’s no surprise to see tuning companies try to shake things up so soon. Although there’s no pricing information for the souped-up Benz yet, you can get a better look at the Manhart SL 800 R on the company’s website.
