The Ducati Motorcycle Company has previously taken part in various collaborations to produce limited-edition versions of some of its most popular two-wheelers, though in recent years, the Italian brand’s XDiavel cruiser has become its go-to platform for joint-effort, limited-edition releases. And after previously partnering with Diesel Jeans and Lamborghini to deliver LE models, the Bologna brand has now revealed its latest special-edition XDiavel — the Nera — born out of a collaboration with elite furniture and automotive upholstery specialist, Poltrona Frau.
For this latest limited-edition XDiavel, Ducati has called on the Turin-based outfit to hand-upholster the seat of the power-cruiser model from ultra-premium natural Pelle Frau leather. Ducati’s normally optional passenger comfort backrest — which is now upholstered in matching Pelle Frau leather — comes standard on the Nera. What’s more, this swanky leather is being offered in five different color choices to contrast the LE model’s special matte and gloss black-on-black livery.
Additional elements unique to the Nera edition include matching red Brembo brake calipers and engine covers, and special badging. The power plant at the heart of the Nera goes unchanged, with the Testastretta DVT 1262 mill putting down the same 152hp and 93ft-lbs of torque — all while tipping the scales at the base model’s same 487-lb dry weight. The trellis-style frame on each example will also sport an engraved serialized plaque showing each unit’s production number.
Limited to only 500 units worldwide, the 2022 Ducati XDiavel Nera is available now with pricing set at $29,795. Alongside the bike itself, each example will also come with an exclusive color-matched key ring and document holder that are crafted from the same Pelle Frau leather used on the limited-edition model’s saddle. Ducati has also designed a limited-edition, black-on-black helmet to pair with the Nera Edition XDiavel.
