Genesis Dropped Its Blacked-Out Magma GT3 Right Before Its First-Ever Le Mans Start

Genesis only just earned its seat at the Hypercar table. The GMR-001 takes its first green flag at the 24 Hours of Le Mans this weekend, making Genesis the first Korean manufacturer to ever race at Circuit de la Sarthe.

So what does the brand do just days before the biggest race in its young history? It rolls out another race car, obviously. Meet the Magma GT3 Concept.

One Racing Program Apparently Wasn’t Enough

Some quick perspective here: a decade ago, Genesis was a fledgling luxury spinoff with a couple of sedans to its name. Now it has a performance subbrand in Magma, a factory racing outfit, and championship points from Spa in its very first WEC season.

Most manufacturers spend years proving themselves in one class before even whispering about another. Genesis is announcing GT3 ambitions before its Hypercar has completed a single 24-hour race.

Built To the Rulebook, Not From a Road Car

Developed alongside Hyundai Motorsport, the GT3 Concept was designed from the ground up around GT3 technical regulations rather than adapted from an existing production model.

It shares its silhouette with the mid-engined Magma GT Concept, but everything else is pure race car. Widened tracks, a prominent front splitter, enlarged ducts, and door-mounted fins handle the aero and cooling, while a massive fixed wing and protruding diffuser anchor what might be the best-looking rear end at Le Mans this weekend. The brand’s signature two-line LED lighting stays put, now flanked by four auxiliary headlights.

Don’t Reach For Your Checkbook Just Yet

Genesis is calling this an “independent study,” with architecture, components, and development pathways all still undefined. Translation: there’s no engine spec sheet, no homologation timeline, and no customer racing program. Not yet, at least.

The brand also gave the road-going Magma GT Concept a proper interior at Le Mans, complete with quilted leather, analog gauges, and a gated shifter.
