Based in Leeds, England, Overfinch has been modifying and building out Land Rovers since 1975. And while the company typically focuses on late model donors, the British builder has more recently launched its Overfinch Heritage division, transforming vintage LRs into one-of-a-kind bespoke creations. To celebrate the launch of this new arm, the firm has partnered with fellow UK-based outfit James Purdey & Sons Ltd. to deliver the ultimate retro Land Rover hunting truck.
Drawing on both brands’ shared passion for luxury detailing, bespoke craftsmanship, and quintessentially British design, the project is known as the “Field Edition” and began life as a 1993 Range Rover County LWB, though the long-wheelbase example has been heavily customized. Powering the classic off-roader is now a 424-hp 6.2-liter V8 sitting beneath a carbon fiber cover. The exterior of the vehicle remains largely stock — aside from a fresh coat of Emerald Green paint — however, the same can’t be said of the heavily-modified interior.
Trimmed in saddle tan leather, the cabin has received a polished Mota-Lita metal steering wheel, lambswool rug carpet mats, a Knurled Brightwork Touchpack gear selector, low range selector, handbrake, and interior door and grab handles, suede headlining and sun visors, chrome Overfinch Heritage sill plates, heated front Recaro seats finished in premium Overfinch diamond-quilted leather, and a host of handcrafted burr walnut accents, though the most noteworthy addition is found in the trunk. Known as a “Cellarette,” this bespoke rear box is made from the same English walnut construction used on Purdey’s gunstocks and features multiple drawers designed to specifically accommodate a selection of cigars, champagne, and a pair of James Purdey & Sons’ handmade Sidelock Ejector 12 Bore Side-by-Side Shotguns.
Overfinch and Overfinch Heritage are both currently accepting bespoke vehicle commissions on a built-to-order basis, with more information available via the British firm’s website.
