A few years removed from the HODINKEE’s collaborative spin on the Leica M10-P, both brands have reconvened for a similarly stunning model highlighted by the same shades of gray. Following suit by name and look, the Leica Q2 Ghost Set by Hodinkee is a prestigious blend of form and function.
The joint effort’s sleek look takes after the faded bezels on a well-aged dive watch, which typically results in the gray color palette that coats the Q2 Ghost. After painting its magnesium alloy body, the camera is wrapped in tonal gray cowhide leather — the same material that appears on a standard iteration of Leica’s full-frame model. However, a game-changing element that takes center stage here is the Summilux 28mm lens undergoing an anodized silver finish to evoke the look of a stainless steel watch case. Additionally, one integral concept returning from Leica’s previous collab with the famed publication is the shedding of the iconic red dot, as it is covered in a tonal shade of gray to deter attention and keep the ghostly aesthetic in play.
Further embellishments include subtle engravings bordering the display that acknowledge the joint effort and specific number for each model. Moreover, only 150 sets will be released. Each one comes equipped with a gray woven Leica rope strap and silver aluminum thumb grip to match. However, Leica will sell the camera in a batch of 2,000 come December. Spec-wise, it boasts the same features that make the Q2 a premium piece of tech, including an OLED viewfinder, 4K video capturing, and a rapid-fire autofocus system, but the main draw here is its remarkable new look.
The Leica Q2 Ghost Set is available through Hodinkee today for $5,995.
