Back in February, the Leatherman company debuted its Garage innovation hub — a special in-house division focusing on envelope-pushing, small-batch multi-tools. And after kicking off the Garage lineup with the Mr. Crunch tool, Leatherman has now revealed the second addition to the collection with the all-new limited-edition Darkside Multi-Tool.
Equipped with 21 tools in total, this second batch in the Garage Series features all-locking tools — save for the pliers. Based on the existing Charge platform, the multi-tool is constructed around a new set of layered, black and blue G-10 handle scales while the tools themselves have been further fortified via black oxide and DLC coatings. Weighing just 8.5oz, this made-in-America multi-tool measures only 1.2” in width, 4” when closed, and 6.25” when open.
Brimming with utility in a compact package, the Darkside boasts can and bottle openers, a diamond-coated wood and metal file, large, medium, and small bit drivers, an eyeglass screwdriver, a keychain lanyard ring, a carbide scribe, tweezers, and a ballpoint pen that packs Schmidt 635 mini D1 cartridge. What’s more, alongside a serrated knife and saw made from 420HC stainless steel, the Darkside also features a premium locking 2.9” sheepsfoot blade composed of top-shelf CPM S30V blade steel. Like the regular Charge multi-tool, the Darkside can have the majority of its tools deployed and operated with one hand.
Sold with a custom black leather sheath with blue branding and a snap rivet closure, the Leatherman Garage Series Darkside Multi-Tool is available now, with pricing set at $250.
