The James Brand Unveils Its Take On the Ultimate EDC Utility Knife

The James Brand has spent the last decade establishing itself as a bonafide leader in the everyday carry space, with a steadily growing catalog of carabiners, pens, fixed blades, folders, bit drivers, keychains, and multi-tools. And despite an already robust lineup, the boutique EDC brand is now adding yet another item to its product range with the debut of the all-new The Palmer Utility Knife.

Representing The James Brand’s biggest release of the year thus far, The Palmer is comprised of six different pieces — not including the utility blade, hardware, or thumb slider — that are mated together to form an ultra-slim yet thoroughly utilitarian workhorse of a box cutter and utility blade. The construction starts with an anodized set of aluminum shells/handles that house a sliding utility blade. What’s more, The Palmer is also equipped with TJB’s first-ever use of a proprietary patented (technically patent pending) mechanism which is a “Easy Open Mechanism” that allows for effortless tool-free blade swaps.

The James Brand is also producing The Palmer in half a dozen anodized color options (yellow, orange, blue, green, gray, and black). A silver thumb slider, the bare metal utility blade, and a silver-colored lanyard hole round out the package — and beautifully contrast The Palmer’s color-anodized finishes. Additionally, The Palmer also comes with a TJB Rocket-logoed utility blade that can be replaced with standard 2.4” trapezoid-shaped pointed-tip utility blades. Weighing in at 2.5oz, the knife is only 0.4” thick, and measures 3.5” when closed and 4.1” with its utility blade deployed.
