After successfully launching the Tactile Turn everyday carry pen brand, Will Hodges founded the Tactile Knife Co. in. 2021, delivering beautifully-made blades that boast the same top-shelf craftsmanship and materials as Hodges’ pen company. Despite still being in its infancy, this boutique knife brand has quickly expanded its catalog to include a range of premium folding knives, though now, for the first time, TKC has entered the fixed blade market with the all-new Dreadeye.
Representing the Tactile Knife Co’s inaugural fixed blade model — excluding the brand’s kitchen knife release — the Dreadeye was born out of a collaboration between TKC and Matthew Christensen of Illinois’ Christensen Knifeworks — a talented designer that’s previously penned production knives for brands like Kizer and Civivi. Boasting a full-tang construction the Dreadeye is essentially a fixed blade version of Christensen’s existing Dreadnought folder.
Made in America, the Dreadeye also features Crucible’s top-shelf new CPM Magnacut blade steel, which has been sandwiched between a set of Richlite handle scales. The knife’s powder metallurgy blade steel has also been further fortified via a special heat treating process that enables the blade to achieve an HRC rating of between 63 and 64. And, aside from the blade’s flat grinding and heat treatment process, every other component on this knife has been designed and produced entirely in-house, all the way down to its hardware.
Though pricing has yet to be revealed, the Tactile Knife Co. x Christensen Knifeworks Dreadeye Fixed Blade Knife is slated for a release in the next month or two.
