In an effort to deliver a more simple and streamlined take on an outdoor and camp cooking stove, brothers Jeff and Spencer Jan began developing what would eventually become the Solo Stove Fire Pit. First hitting the market in 2010, the first-generation Fire Pit has become so successful, that the company has now been prompted to debut a second-gen version of the product line that retains all of the features that made it so popular in the first place, while also bringing a handful of noteworthy improvements to the table.
Solo Stove’s Fire Pit 2.0 features the same rugged stainless steel construction as its predecessor. More importantly, the gen-one’s game-changing 360° Airflow Technology also remains on the 2.0 model, continuing to allow for smokeless fires and cooking. It’s also abundantly clear that Solo Stove factored user feedback from the public into the new design — a fact that’s led to the addition of a convenient new removable ash pan. While the Fire Pit 1.0 required users to scoop out or flip the entire system upside-down to empty, the 2.0 simply uses a slide-out drawer that can be emptied once its contents have cooled. What’s more, this system doesn’t require the use of any tools and can be operated entirely by hand.
Just like with the first-generation Fire Pit, the 2.0 is available in a trio of different sizes. Starting with the smallest and most portable of the lot, the Ranger 2.0 is 15” in diameter and 12.5” tall, weighs 15lbs, and is intended to be used by one-to-three people. Tipping the scales at 20lbs, the mid-sized Bonfire 2.0 model is meant for up to five users and measures 19.5” in diameter and 14” in height. At the top of the range is the full-sized Yukon 2.0 model. Good for accommodating more than a dozen users, this 38-lb second-gen Fire Pit is 27” in diameter and stands at 17” tall.
The Solo Stove Fire Pit 2.0 is available now, with introductory pricing set at $230 for the Ranger 2.0, $260 for the Bonfire 2.0, and $460 for the Yukon 2.0. Solo Stove will also be offering a wide range of accessories and add-ons for the second-gen Fire Pit including various stands, lids, shields, and carrying cases.
