Few luggage brands are more iconic than Rimowa, whose emblematic aluminum suitcases are instantly recognizable any time you see one in the wild or on screen. However, as good of a job as the German firm does with its flagship items, it’s never balked at going outside the box with its products. In recent years, we’ve seen it apply its ethos to suitcases specifically designed for the likes of wine bottles, violins, poker chips, and wristwatches
Now, Rimowa has thought outside the box within a different category altogether. And while it’s no stranger to backpacks and duffel bags, the brand has now made uber-compact foldable versions that can fit in your pocket.
Sleek and Discreet
Built with the same eye for sleek design that the German brand is famous for, the Foldable Backpack and Foldable Gym Bag are both visually appealing and complementary to one another in both look and design. Built with crease-resistant polyester with matte black palladium hardware, the stealthy black bags are inherently lightweight and naturally water-resistant, making them perfect travel companions.
The “crease-resistant” attribute is important, however, because these can fold into a pouch of just 1.6” thick. The rectangular width and length is 8.9” x 8.7” for the Foldable Backpack and 10.2” x 8.5” for the Foldable Gym Bag. The pouch itself is integrated discreetly into the bag designs, which is very helpful, and doubles as interior zippered pockets for extra storage.
What We Know About These Bags
As for the backpack, it features two thin adjustable shoulder straps, a main compartment, and a smaller front zippered pocket on the outside. Weighing just 12.8oz, the bag still holds a whopping 25L!
Meanwhile, the gym bag features an adjustable shoulder strap, two shorter carry handles on top that can be combined, and even leather trim. There are stretchy pockets on each end and a large 35.2-liter main compartment sealed with two zippers. Despite the extra capacity, this bag still only weighs 1.2lbs.
Currently, both products are only available in black but, knowing Rimowa, there might be more colorways available in the future if these become popular enough.
