Southern California has a beautiful landscape of desert and mountains and weather that’s sunny more-or-less year-round. Couple those factors with SoCal’s hundreds of winding canyon roads and countless miles of pristine beaches, and it’s not hard to see how and why Southern California has become a mecca for both classic Porsche enthusiasts and for surfers alike — with the State having the most Porsche dealerships in the country with twice as many as the second-place state (Florida). To highlight and honor this connection, the Stuttgart marque has linked up with legendary SoCal surf shop Almond Surfboards in order to deliver a limited edition board and apparel capsule known as the Porsche x Almond Surf Collection.
The Clothing
Of the 11 items comprising the Porsche x Almond Surf Collection, six of them are clothing and apparel pieces. There’s a black Porsche x Almond hoodie and a grey Porsche x Almond crew neck sweatshirt, as well as two “Single Fins and Air-Cooled Engines” t-shirts. Rounding out the clothing in the capsule is a Porsche x Almond cap and a “Collaboration Born In California” tee.
The Boards
Anchoring the capsule are two surfboards from Almond. The first is the mid-sized 7′ 10” Porsche x Almond Cash-Yew II Surfboard while the second is the larger 9′ 11” Porsche x Almond The Surf Thump Surfboard. Both boards are offered in three iconic ‘60s era 911 liveries (Bahama Yellow, Polo Red, and Irish Green) as well as in one variant decorated in the legendary Pink Pig racing livery. Requiring a six-to-eight-week build time, both boards are handcrafted on a made-to-order basis in Southern California and give buyers the option to select a race number to adorn the board. The boards are sold with an included rack and a single fin, though the collection also includes a different fin that can be purchased individually in all-black or Pink Pig liveries.
Other Odds & End
Rounding out this limited edition collection are two small accoutrements. These take the form of a Porsche x Almond patch and a Porsche x Almond Key Ring that features a profile illustration of a classic 911 with a surfboard on the roof.
