Ten years feels like both forever and yesterday in eyewear terms, but Oakley’s decision to resurrect the Tailend through Haven is a welcomed return. Originally launched in 2015 as part of the brand’s experimental phase following the legendary X-Metal era, the Tailend was a distillation of Oakley’s most ambitious designs into something you could actually wear daily. Now reissued in titanium for its 10th anniversary, this collaboration with Vancouver’s Haven proves that the design is still ahead of its time.

Heritage That Hits Different
The original Tailend was essentially a love letter to the brand’s most iconic models. Drawing inspiration from the rimless Zero series, the perfectly round Mars/Moon line, and the avant-garde Madman, the Tailend managed to coalesce decades of Oakley innovation into one coherent design. That signature pig’s tail coil stem and the hidden half-orbital frame behind the lens felt fresh amidst a category where true innovation has always been increasingly scarce.
Where the X-Metal series could feel almost unwearable in its sculptural ambition, the Tailend took those same design principles and made them practical. The circular lenses provided substantial coverage but weren’t oversized, while the spring hinge system delivered both security and sacrificing comfort.

Ti Upgrade Worth the Wait
This anniversary edition elevates the original formula with Oakley’s proprietary titanium alloy construction, addressing one of the few criticisms of the 2015 model: weight. The new lightweight frame maintains all the distinctive sculpting and laser-etched details that made the original compelling while improving daily wearability. Paired with Prizm Ruby lenses, the optical package delivers enhanced contrast and clarity that the original’s standard lenses couldn’t match.
Having Haven handle the exclusive launch feels right for this release. The Vancouver retailer has consistently championed products that blur the line between technical innovation and cultural relevance — exactly what the Tailend represents.
