Oakley Just Dropped a Parachute-Inspired Collection of Transforming Apparel and Footwear

Oakley might be one of the most iconic eyewear brands in the world, but at its essence, its impact on style as a whole is what’s been the throughline over its 42-year history.

For spring/summer 2026, the company has unveiled its latest Latitude Collection, inspired by the resilience of parachutes this time around. And strangely enough, it doesn’t consist of a single pair of sunglasses.

The Evolution of Morphware

The Latitude line has come a long way since its 2023 debut as a nature-inspired eyewear capsule. By 2025, it had grown into something more ambitious with the introduction of “Morphware,” a design philosophy-turned-label built around garments that transform and adapt to their environment. Popular pieces include the Flight Vest Ponchos that unzip into standalone vests or cargo pants with zip-off legs.

The latest collection for SS26 doubles down hard. Taking cues from parachutes, specifically their structural duality of being simultaneously soft and hard, the lineup zeroes in on what it means to build gear for a world where conditions shift at the snap of a finger. Regardless, the range looks about as futuristic yet utilitarian as any piece of eyewear from the brand.

The Star of the Show

The Slingpack Jacket is the collection’s signature piece. Built from a 3-layer waterproof, windproof nylon shell with FN Dry 10K protection and underarm zip ventilation, the jacket packs away entirely into a structured sling bag using its own chest pockets and a pair of Fidlock buckle straps. The bag configuration includes mesh zip pockets, a molle webbing system on the top strap, and an adjustable crossbody setup. It’s a direct nod to Oakley’s Heritage Sling Backpack, which has developed a quiet cult following over the years.

This isn’t the first time the jacket-to-bag concept has been tackled by the industry. Since the ’60s, K-Way has been known for making its crossbody-jacket conversions. But most of those collapse into themselves and leave you with a bag that can’t actually carry anything useful. Oakley’s version functions as a normal sling separately.

The Supporting Cast

The Eon Alpha is Oakley’s first real hiking shoe under the Latitude umbrella, and it’s pretty ambitious. The knit upper is performance-oriented for warm and humid conditions, while the algae-based Bloom insole brings a sustainability angle alongside responsive cushioning. For grip, the multi-directional traction pods underfoot aim to give Vibram a run for its money, but the verdict’s still out. The overall aesthetic is undeniably Oakley, but the $350 price tag should also bring some trail function with it. The brand describes this as the first step in a 50-year footwear vision. And while it’s not their first hikers, the Eon looks like their first play to be a serious contender in the space.

The Veil ¾ Short ($260) rounds out the lower-body options, cut from stretch Cordura with anti-abrasion knee patches, laser-perforated ventilation, and a water-repellent finish. Meanwhile, the Expedition Bag is a 43-liter recycled Cordura weekender that can integrate with luggage handles. And on the lower end of the range, the Flex Belt Bag, also made from Cordura, converts between belt bag, crossbody, and detachable front pouch, blending military aesthetic into the world of EDC.

Other pieces from the collection include t-shirts, tanks, mid-layers, and solar caps.

Oakley SS26 Latitude Collection

Oakley’s Latitude SS26 is a full apparel and footwear collection built around the brand’s Morphware philosophy, with the headline piece being a $700 waterproof shell jacket that packs down into a functional sling bag. The rest of the drop, including stretch Cordura shorts, a new sneaker, and a few carry options, rounds out a collection inspired by parachutes.
