Founded in 2007, NITECORE has long been viewed as a leader in the high-performance flashlight space, with a more than 15-year history of producing immensely capable outdoor, EDC, and tactical torches. More recently, however, the company has pivoted to also begin churning out backpacks, pouches, crossbody bags, and other carry solutions — the latest of which to break cover is the all-new NITECORE SLB05 ILLUSION Sling Bag.
Recently launched through a successful Kickstarter campaign, the SLB05 ILLUSION is a modular sling bag that was made specifically for commuting and everyday carry use. Designed in collaboration with OVERCLOCK ROAM, the SLB05 combines elements from tech organizers and tactical crossbody bags. Crafted around a shell composed of a combination of 500-denier nylon and coated 600-denier nylon, this bag boasts double inner protective layers with impact-resistant foam side walls, plus dual exterior front pockets, a detachable non-slip grab handle, two-way YKK zippers, and ultra-tough UTX Duraflex buckles. Rows of MOLLE webbing also adorn the bottom and sides of the sling bag.
Weighing only 0.6lbs, the SLB05 measures 8.7″ x 2.0″ x 6.3″ — a compact footprint that still manages to deliver a full two liters of storage space. The SLB05 ILLUSION is also sold with an included pair of MOLLE system clips for securing gear to the sling or attaching the SLB05 to a larger carry solution. The bag’s zippers and storm flap opens to reveal an interior that’s been outfitted with a trio of pen loops and a modular loop panel organizational system. On top of having the ability to be secured to the outside of a larger bag and carried like a pouch, the SLB05 can also be worn over the shoulder, across the body, or carried like a briefcase via its grab handle.
