Unsatisfied with the existing gear on the market, two outdoor enthusiasts and entrepreneurs founded Hyperlite Mountain Gear in 2010, harnessing the power of Dyneema and other state-of-the-art constructions to deliver superior shelters, packs, and accessories made specifically for off-grid exploration and adventures. And despite already boasting an expansive range of products, the Maine-based outfitter has now just released its first-ever sleep system with what’s been dubbed the Hyperlite Mountain Gear Quilt.
Described as a mid-season sleep system, Hyperlite’s Quilt features a C0 DWR-coated 7-denier micro-ripstop nylon construction that’s insulated via a 7.73oz, 1,000-fill power RDS-certified goose down. The quilt uses a standard sewn foot box that’s connected to a split sleeping bag that can be fastened together via a plastic buckle — allowing for open-bag sleeping on warm nights and a normal closed setup on chillier evenings. The quilt is also designed to accommodate one of Therm-a-Rest’s NeoAir XLite Sleeping Pads (which are sold separately).
Offering a T-Comfort rating of 40° Fahrenheit, the quilt also comes with the boutique outdoor brand’s ultralight Side Entry Pod which is taped from the inside of the bag for extra strength as well as resistance against expansion. Hyperlite’s Quilt is also being offered in three sizes, Short, Regular, and Long — which each boast interior lengths of 66”, 72”, and 80”, respectively. What’s more, the quilt is also sold with an included storage bag made from a rugged yet breathable cotton construction.
Priced at $549, the Hyperlite Mountain Gear Quilt is available for preorder now, with shipping scheduled to begin on August 15.
