In addition to utility and durability, quality everyday carry items are also largely characterized by their versatility. The latest release from Prometheus Design Werx’s Special Projects Division, the SPD CAS is a compact and highly-pocketable out-the-front automatic knife that sports a Böhler M390 blade spanning just under 2” — making it legal to carry in the Golden State. What’s more, the CAS is also one of very few OTF models on the market that sport a contoured handle — a feature that requires three-times more CNC machining to achieve.

Spot 3 Satellite GPS Messenger

Built to handle just about anything that nature can throw at it — from extreme temperatures to heavy precipitation — the Spot 3 Satellite GPS Messenger is a pocketable outdoor gadget that’s capable of serving as a literal lifeline to the outside world. This third-generation gadget features the ability to send and receive messages and GPS coordinates, as well an S.O.S. function. Not unlike sidearms or smoke detectors, the Spot 3 Satellite GPS Messenger is very much one of those items that we’d much rather have and not need than need and not have.
