Everyday Carry: Espresso

For some people, coffee gets them through the day. But for others, coffee is life. While the coffee bean has been around for centuries, the Italian espresso was invented in the late 1800s as a way to deliver more concentrated coffee in a much quicker way. Espresso also helped spur the rapid rise of modern coffee culture, which continues today. This EDC pocket dump is inspired by those vintage espresso shops and cafes in Italy with brown-dominant colorways for those who are java-obsessed.

Zero Tolerance Tim Galyean Frame Lock Knife

Inspired by Ka-Bar’s World War II-era knife used by the U.S. Marine Corps, this frame lock from Zero Tolerance and designer Tim Galyean even sports the same black and brown color scheme as the original, except configures it for more EDC readiness. Built with a hard and durable 3.5-inch CPM-20CV stainless steel blade and weighing just 4.7oz, the knife can be opened via a flipper with jimping and secured with a steel lock bar insert. For superb grip, the stacked two-tone handle is constructed from G-10 composite with a titanium liner underneath.

Combining classic and luxurious aesthetics, German eyewear brand MYKITA debuted these Kallio sunglasses as part of its Lite Acetate collection. Built with stainless steel and acetate frames, with the brand’s signature spiral hinges, the shades are incredibly lightweight, thanks in part to its titanium nose pads. Layered nine times for better contrast and definition, the Polarized Pro lenses offer full UV protection for your eyes as well.

Unimatic U1S-MB

Unimatic has perfected the art of striking minimalism into its watches so that they still don’t go unnoticed. Right from the heart of coffee culture, the Italian watch brand’s proprietary design language is both classy and understated, and always memorable. Limited to 500 pieces, this brown, coffee-inspired version of its Modello Uno dive watch, dubbed U1S-MB, sports a matte “mocha brown” dial and matching aluminum bezel. However, the aesthetic becomes tied in with the inclusion of the brown calf suede leather strap, which can also be swapped out for a brown seatbelt NATO strap.
