For those in the know, The Bottle Opener from Discommon Goods has been arguably one of the most notable and meticulously designed of its kind since it first debuted in 2015. With its first two iterations currently discontinued, fans have been clamoring for a third model for several years now. Well, that day is here, with the EDC firm flexing its design-forward chops on its new supercar-inspired unit made to crack open a cold one.

It was a tall task when Discommon Goods decided to challenge the already-crowded and, most would say, stagnant bottle opener market with its eponymous model nearly a decade ago. Intended to be “functional art,” the original Bottle Opener was inspired by a bar of soap from a hotel room in Costa Rica and fit in your hand as such. Ballsy to say the least, the EDC gear brand doubled down with a $140 price tag. Of course, it wouldn’t matter because the Bottle Opener was a hit, igniting a follow-up model a few years later. Like version 1, version 2 could be the highlight of your loadout. This time around, it was modeled after luggage tags, ambitiously folding and stitching authentic leather around a grooved titanium body.

Leaving things like ergonomics and weight distribution at the door, The Bottle Opener 3.0 is just a really beautiful piece of art that makes you look forward to using it. Made from a chrome-finished die-cast zinc alloy, the unit is heavier than you think, evoking images of the equally sleek and curvaceous Dallara Stradale or Ferrari 812. Unlike its previous iterations, this new version only comes in one colorway — for now at least — and is also significantly more affordable. The first to be under $100, the unit strives for accessibility while channeling some of the most outrageous and inaccessible products on Earth.

Offered at just $79, The Bottle Opener 3.0 is currently up for grabs from Discommon Goods’ website. If you’re interested, make sure you nab one quickly, otherwise you may have to wait four more years for another one.
