It’s hard finding a pair of hiking boots that tend to the environment, your body, and the terrain around you. Luckily, two members of the family that founded Timberland are looking to do just that with the conception of Erem, a new sustainable desert performance brand that’s just launched with the impressive Xerocole Desert Hiking Boot and Expedition Boot.
Starting off with their base boot, the Xerocole Desert Hiking Boot is entirely “Biocircular” — meaning all materials used in their construction have 100% proven paths back to nature. The boots are crafted of materials like vegetable-tanned leather, recycled wood fiber, and Eco-Rubber, the latter being composed of 70% recycled content. Making for a great day in the desert, the Xerocole sits on a rubber sole that provides flexibility and durability throughout the day. Thanks to its stitched upper, the boot is incredibly breathable regardless of its 18-ounce makeup. Additionally, a shock-absorbent insole sits on a cork footbed that molds to your foot, ensuring comfort on even the longest of hikes. As far as the Hiking Boot’s bolstered sibling is concerned, the Xerocole Expedition is composed of the same sustainable materials but features a 7.25″ collar lining as opposed to the former’s height of 5.25″, providing a bit more stability without sacrificing anything else.
If you’re looking to take a trek through some sandy paths over the next few months, either of these boots from this brand-new name in the field sure looks capable of checking off every box. Available now starting from $170, either form of the Xerocole hiking boots from Erem will make a great addition to your next expedition.
