Bremont’s Latest Jaguar Watch Is Heavily Inspired by the Iconic C-Type

One of the most famous — and beautiful — automobiles of the post-War era was the Jaguar C-Type. Built from 1951 to 1953, it was a racecar version of the manufacturer’s XK120 from a few years prior. Only 53 examples of the C-Type were ever produced and the car found success on the track, even winning the 24 Hours at Le Mans twice. One of those examples sold at auction years back for over $13 million, making it one of the most expensive cars ever. Needless to say, owning one of these competition cars is next to impossible, but British luxury watch company Bremont has made it so you can at least get close.

Bremont’s Jaguar C-Type is an automatic chronograph boasting plenty of touches that harken back to the original ‘50s automotive classic. The 43mm stainless steel Bremont Trip-Tick case sports a bi-directional bezel with an anodized aluminum insert, a nod to the original bodywork of the car itself, made even more clear by the tachymeter markers that go up to 400.

The sweeping and defined bodywork of the vehicle is also referenced in the silver-plated, multi-level sunburst dial. The heritage Jaguar logo can be seen below the middle of the dial, which features a pair of white subdials for running seconds and chronograph minutes. With its red accents, the seconds subdial references the Smiths gauges from the car’s original dashboard. The red second hand was also inspired by the needle on the C-Type’s tachometer. On the stainless steel caseback, a decorative gold-tone coin boasts the original Jaguar hood badge.

Fans of Bremont know this isn’t the brand’s first horological homage to Jaguar. Equipped with a tan leather rallye strap and water resistant to 200m, the C-Type follows releases of the D-Type and E-Type a few years back. Bremont’s Jaguar C-Type is currently for sale on the company’s online store for $6,495.
