BMW R100R “The Moon Walker” By Ironwood

Ironwood Custom Motorcycles loves to take BMW donor bikes and turn them into razor-edged, grizzly creatures. Their beastly beamers invariably come with a radioactive new cognomen for the streets, like “The Mutant,” “The Scumbag,” or in the case of their latest project: “The Moon Crawler.”

Built from the skeleton of a BMW R100r, the Moon Crawler by Ironwood Customs is not the most terribly aggressive model to come from Ironwood’s custom shop. The design is rather cool, somewhat sparse – as a lunar rover should be – and painted with a deep green complemented by brown leather upholstery, courtesy of Marcel Miller at Miller Kustom Upholstery. Built by Arjen Van Den Boom and Eric Kalter, the remodel included a complete revamp of the bike’s electronics. They installed a Motogadget control unit and a Lithium-ion battery, which was covered by a leather battery case. New grips and switchgears from Motone provide the controls. Two LEDs under the seat serve as taillights and turn signals. This is the perfect bike with which to negotiate craters.
