Since its launch in 2015, Unimatic has grown into one of the most revered micro-brands in the world thanks to its utilization of minimalist aesthetics against sturdy builds and towering performance. Many of the Italian brand’s releases get only a limited run and its flagship Modello Due has received several special editions in recent years alone, including the espresso-inspired brown variant and the U2S-M, a slimmer version that shaves just over 2mm off the thickness of a standard Modello Due down to 11.6mm.
Today, Unimatic unveiled its newest iteration of the slim Modello Due in collaboration with the 103-year-old Milan-based cutlery boutique Lorenzi. The most notable thing about this new timepiece, dubbed U2S-T-L, is that it’s the watchmaker’s very first with a titanium case, whereas its other pieces are built from stainless steel. Titanium has taken the watch world by storm in recent years for its considerable weight reduction and strength when compared to steel, having the highest strength-to-weight ratio of any metal in the world.
The U2S-T-L is a whopping 31% lighter than a standard Modello Due, which makes it favorable for the more active wearer. Most of the other features have remained the same here, including the Sellita SW200-1 automatic movement, the 38.5mm case diameter, and 300m water resistance. However, the caseback is numbered and engraved with the two brands’ names, and the new watch has also been given a Lorenzi Green dial, which pairs nicely with the two strap options: Lorenzi Green TPU or brown calfskin leather.
Limited to just 99 pieces, the Unimatic Modello Due U2S-T-L is on sale via Lorenzi’s online store for €850 (~$851).
