Unimatic Took Its Minimalist Modello Uno and Made It a Serious Dive Tool with 600m of Water Resistance

Italian microbrand Unimatic is back with a trio of Modello Uno ProDiver watches that push their dive credentials into serious territory. While the brand built its reputation on minimalist design that draws from 1950s divers, this trio of new references (two models total) show that they’re more than just a style brand; they want to prove their engineering chops too.

Titanium Takes the Lead

The standout here is the U1S-T-PD6-B, which breaks new ground as Unimatic’s first 600m dive watch. Housed in a 41.5mm sandblasted Grade 2 titanium case that weighs just 63g (~2.2oz) on the strap, this timepiece keeps the familiar Modello Uno proportions but stays surprisingly slim at 12.3mm thick (not including the 3mm double domed sapphire crystal), proving you don’t need a brick on your wrist to handle serious depth.

Inside, the Swiss Sellita SW200-1 automatic movement operates at 28,800 vph with 41 hours on tap, powering the time-date functions on the dial side.

Paired with a heavy-duty nylon NATO strap, the watch also boasts a dual-color lume setup with orange Super-LumiNova on the ceramic bezel and minute hand contrasting with the traditional blue-green on the dial markers. This looks incredible in the press photos but also serves a functional purpose of optimizing underwater visibility.

Steel Options Bring Accessibility

The two stainless steel variants, the U1-PD3-B and U1-PD3-OR, take a different approach. Water resistant to a more practical 300m, they swap the Sellita movement for Seiko’s reliable NH35A, which bumps case thickness to 13.2mm but keeps the overall height identical thanks to crystal differences. The 41.5mm case diameter stays intact.

The orange-dialed U1-PD3-OR stands out as the most visually striking of the trio. International orange has serious dive watch heritage (think the Doxa SUB) and provides underwater visibility benefits before that wavelength disappears in deeper water. Against Unimatic’s typically restrained palette, it certainly stands out in the catalog.

The matte black U1-PD3-B is stealthier, offering ProDiver functionality in the brand’s most familiar colorway. Both steel models eliminate the date complication found on the titanium version, keeping dial symmetry intact. Both watches also come with the same black NATO strap as the PD6. All three watches incorporate 120-click unidirectional bezels with ceramic inserts and screw-down crowns with crown guards.
