Rolex launched Tudor nearly 100 years ago as a way to offer more affordable versions of its famed wristwatches. However, these days, it may seem like the Swiss brand is merely a way to launch more audacious timepieces without affecting the Crown’s prestige. Back in March, Tudor launched a bold pink version of its Black Bay Chronograph to celebrate its partnership with David Beckham’s soccer club Inter Miami. And this past weekend, the watchmaker has taken advantage of yet another soccer team partnership with a bright blue version of its Black Bay 58. But why all the fuss, you ask?

The Big 2-0
If you haven’t been paying attention to European football, Italy’s Inter Milan soccer club just won its 20th league title with a 2-1 win over AC Milan and five games still remaining in the season. In Italy, you get a star on your jersey for every 10 league titles, giving Inter Milan their coveted second star. Partnering up for the first time, the football club and Tudor have also put the two stars on the dial of a new timepiece, which is only available in Italy and limited to just 1,908 pieces after the year Inter Milan was founded.

The Black Bay 58 Inter Milan Edition Basics
Sometimes a dive watch can look too much like a utilitarian instrument (how dare it!) than a wearer would like. However, the Black Bay 58 is a remarkable option for the sheer fact that it excels as an everyday watch as well. In other words, you don’t need to be anywhere near water for it to make sense. Appropriately, Tudor has tapped its famed diver to represent the victorious Italian football club.
Sharing almost identical specs to the standard Black Bay 58, this limited-edition variant stands out with its colorway. Featuring a gradient blue ombré dial, modeled after Inter Milan’s jersey color, the watch is also given gold accents and dial text with the team’s logo and the two stars right above the 6 spot. Returning in aluminum, the black bezel insert is accented with a gilt 60-minute scale. The caseback has been engraved and numbered, with the Inter Milan players getting the edition numbers that correspond with their jerseys.
Like previous Black Bay 58 divers, this version retains the 39mm case diameter, 11.9mm thickness, stainless steel material, and 200m of water resistance. Adorned with either a stainless steel bracelet or black-and-blue NATO strap, the watch is powered by the Kenissi-made MT5402 automatic movement with 70 hours of power reserve.
