TAG Heuer Brings an Automatic Chronograph Back to the Autavia Lineup

Once upon a time, the Heuer Autavia was one of the finest chronograph watches money could buy, and examples from the 1960s and ’70s remain highly sought after on the vintage market. And while the Autavia remains a core line in modern TAG Heuer’s catalog, recent iterations of the watch have been time-only. But that’s changing with the release of the TAG Heuer Autavia Chronometer Flyback, which brings the chronograph complication back to the Autavia line where it belongs.

While the TAG Heuer Autavia Chronometer Flyback has a vintage-inspired design, it’s executed in a thoroughly-modern guise. The watch features a gorgeous black dial with matching black counters that provide excellent visual contrast to the unique mint-green Super-LumiNova hands and indexes. The 42mm case is contemporary in both size and appearance, with a black DLC finish and a black ceramic bidirectional bezel. Other features of the Autavia Flyback include a 100m water resistance, a sapphire crystal on both the front and on the exhibition case back, and a matte black alligator leather strap.

The watch features TAG Heuer’s Calibre HEUER02 COSC Flyback movement, which is both a certified chronometer and a legitimate flyback chrono. Available in both this striking blacked-out version and in an untreated stainless steel version with a silver panda dial, the TAG Heuer Autavia Chronometer Flyback is limited in quantity and retails for $6,950.
