Singer is undoubtedly best known as a world-class Porsche tuner and restomod builder, however, the company has also developed an equally eminent reputation in high-end horological circles with its Singer Reimagined watch brand. And while this Singer sub-brand has always been something of a horological love-letter to ‘60s and ‘70s era motorsport, timepieces, and vehicles, it’s now opted to pay homage to an even more specific period in history with its new Singer Reimagined 1969 Collection.

Alongside important events in history that played out during that year such as the moon landing, the summer of love, the Boeing 747’s first flight, and the first test flight of the Concorde jetliner, 1969 also played host to the introduction of the first-ever automatic chronograph movement — or movements rather, as the year saw the introduction of the Chronomatic, the El Primero, and the Caliber 6139 all within the same 12-month span. The collection consists of the 1969 Chronograph and the 1969 Timer, the former of which is powered by the AGH 6365 movement while the latter is kept kicking by an AGH 6363 movement — both of which are on display via an exhibition case-back. On top of paying tribute to the year, Singer also set out to deliver a pair of limited edition watches as the company would have if it were operating 54 years ago in 1969.

This new pair of limited edition watches is based on Singer’s existing Flytrack and Track1 chronograph models, however, they feature a myriad of prominent tweaks and changes. For starters, the dials of both timepieces have been revised, receiving unique layouts executed in a collection-exclusive vintage-inspired black and bronze/gold colorway that even sports some light John Player Special livery vibes. Watch cases have also grown larger over the years, so in a bid to deliver a timepiece that’s more true to the late ‘60s era, Singer has opted to craft both timepieces around a new 40mm case — a downsize from the 43mm width the watches have always previously possessed until now. Composed of stainless steel, the cases have been complemented via applied signature golden crown rings encompassing the dials and new stainless steel H-link bracelets.
