Just because a field watch is tough doesn’t mean it has to necessarily look tough. Admittedly, a dress watch is much more stylistically suited for special occasions but that didn’t stop Parisian watchmaker Serica from debuting its stunning Tuxedo Dial on the military-style Ref. 4512 back in 2022. And as such, the timepiece became a cult favorite.
Well, it’s been three years and the Tuxedo Dial is making a triumphant return, refined just a bit without losing what made it so special — and rugged — the first time around.

The Evolution of Elegance
The original 4512 TXD had a black-and-white enamel dial that was objectively beautiful but notoriously difficult to produce — a limitation that kept production numbers minimal. For the new Ref. 6190 TXD, Serica swapped that stark palette for a warmer black-and-beige combination while introducing a third color to the middle sector for added depth.
The hand-applied indexes are filled with stark white Super-LumiNova C3, providing proper contrast against the beige sectors. And Serica brought back the brushed handset from their earliest field watches — a nod to the brand’s origins that adds texture to the dial.

Built Like a Tank, Wears Like a Dress Watch
Underneath that refined aesthetic lives the same rugged 37.7mm stainless steel case that defines the 6190 line. At 10.4mm thick with a 46.5mm lug-to-lug measurement, it features twisted lugs and a sculpted bezel that maintain Serica’s signature design. Of course, you still get 200m of water resistance, just in case you needed proof that this is still a proper tool watch.

Inside, the COSC-certified Soprod M100 automatic movement delivers 28,800 vph with 42 hours of power reserve. The watch ships on Serica’s distinctive Bonklip bracelet (available in three lengths), and the crown can be positioned at either 3 or 9 o’clock for left-handed wearers.
