Patek Philippe and Tiffany Collab on Possibly the Final 5711 Nautilus Ever

You’d be hard-pressed to elevate the Nautilus ref. 5711. The iconic offering from Geneva-based watchmaker Patek Phillipe is one of the most coveted timepieces in the watch space. Its legendary Gérald Genta-penned design is the definition of legendary, which was why it was all the more shocking (and heartbreaking) that the famed watch brand announced they would be discontinuing the reference in 2022. Despite the low morale the news produced earlier this year, Patek Phillipe has given the watch space a new hope by announcing that it was teaming up with Tiffany & Co. to make what may be the last reference 5711 ever.

The Patek Phillipe x Tiffany & Co. Nautilus reference 5711 is a limited-series Nautilus that celebrates the 170-year partnership between Patek Philippe and Tiffany & Co. As far as brand alliances are concerned, they don’t get more luxurious, or long-lasting, than this one. This limited-edition timepiece marks the first (and last) time the Nautilus ref. 5711 sports a dial in gorgeous Tiffany Blue lacquer. It features blackened 18K white gold hour markers, as well as baton-style hour and minute hands in black nickel-plated 18K white gold. You’ll also find dual printed signatures of “Patek Philippe Genève” at 12 o’clock and “Tiffany & Co.” at 6 o’clock. Moreover, the limited-edition reference 5711 has a stainless steel case and integrated bracelet, along with a sapphire case back displaying the Caliber 26-330 S C movement and an inscription of “170th Anniversary 1851-2021 Tiffany & Co. – Patek Philippe.”

A total of 170 timepieces will be produced and are available only through Tiffany locations in New York, Beverly Hills, and San Francisco. Given their rarity and exclusivity — and the fact that you’ll need to be both very wealthy and extremely well connected — you will be very hard-pressed to track one down. But if your pockets are deep enough and your desire grand enough, you can test your luck at obtaining the one example that’s been reserved for Phillips. The auction house is auctioning it off as part of The 2021 New York Watch Auction on December 11 and 12, with 100% of the proceeds benefitting The Nature Conservancy. Phillips lists the expected sale price for the watch as over $50,000, but we think they’re being pretty modest, as this no-reserve auction is all but guaranteed to soar well into six-figure territory.
