Omega’s ‘Masters Green’ Speedmaster Trades the Moon for the Clubhouse in Solid Moonshine Gold

Normally, when a brand like Omega adds a five-figure solid gold watch to its lineup, there’s a whole production behind it. Embargoed press kits, ambassador wrist shots, or maybe a splashy event in Geneva if the occasion calls for it.

This time, Omega did none of that. The brand simply slipped a new Speedmaster reference onto its website without a word and let the watch world stumble across it on its own, which, given that we’re talking about a solid gold Moonwatch, didn’t take long.

The new ref. 310.60.42.50.10.002 is an evolution of Omega’s existing green-and-gold Speedy, and the changes are subtle. But, they’re also incredibly beautiful as well.

Half a Pound of Moonshine

Both the 42mm case and the bracelet are rendered in 18K Moonshine Gold, the proprietary alloy Omega cooked up in 2019. Blended with silver, copper, and palladium, it wears a paler hue than traditional yellow gold and resists fading over time.

It also weighs an absurd 222 grams. That’s heavier than a baseball strapped to your wrist, so anyone expecting the featherweight feel of a steel Speedy is in for a surprise. The classic fourth-generation case architecture remains fully intact though, twisted lyre lugs and all.

Reading the Greens

The sun-brushed green PVD step dial shifts from forest green to near-black depending on the light, framed by a polished green ceramic bezel with a Ceragold tachymeter scale (dot over 90 included, naturally).

Now, about those subdials. Where the previous reference kept them green, Omega has swapped in solid Moonshine Gold registers decorated with an azurage pattern the brand says was inspired by the radiating design of golf spikes. Omega has spent years embedding itself in professional golf, and with the community already nicknaming this thing the “Masters Green,” the message lands loud and clear.

Same Old Moonwatch Heart

Flip it over and the sapphire caseback reveals the manual-wind Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 3861, here wearing a luxury finish with Geneva waves, rhodium plating, and gold-plated engravings.

Each one is METAS certified, and comes equipped with a 50-hour power reserve The caseback also still reads “FIRST WATCH WORN ON THE MOON,” which feels delightfully ironic on a watch that’s clearly built for the clubhouse.
