Omega Finally Released the No Date Seamaster 300 Teased by Daniel Craig Months Ago

Since ending his tenure as James Bond, Daniel Craig has been spending time at high-profile events wearing unreleased Omega watches. We don’t blame him; we’d be doing it too if we were their brand ambassador. Oftentimes these watches are frustratingly obstructed or ambiguously identified. That was not the case, however, when the 007 actor headed to Paris back in August for the Olympics wearing, as most people guessed, a unique no-date version of the black-and-steel Seamaster Diver 300M. Well, after a few months, that watch is now available to the public.

A Prophecy Fulfilled

When it comes to iconic divers, two stand at the top of the mountain: the Rolex Submariner and the Omega Seamaster. However, unlike its Swiss competitor, Omega hasn’t had a version of the dive watch sans date window on a non-special edition since its inception in 1993.

Sized at 42mm across, the Seamaster 300M No Date comes in the stainless steel version with a black aluminum 60-minute bezel insert and black dial that Craig was photographed wearing. But also, just for fun, there’s a version with a grade 5 titanium bezel with a positive relief surrounding a steel PVD-coated dial for a more monochrome look. Just like your standard Diver 300M, this has the 3 o’clock crown and 10 o’clock helium escape valve.

Look, M, No Date!

The dial design doesn’t have many surprises either. The black version features the laser-engraved wave pattern like past models, including the ones worn in the ‘90s-era Bond films as well as the James Bond 60th Anniversary Seamaster from a couple of years back. As for the titanium bezel variant, the gray-colored dial displays vertical brushing that might win over a lot of buyers originally planning to get the “Daniel Craig Edition” (not the real product name). The handset, applied hour markers, and indices will all look the same as a regular Seamaster 300 but, of course, without the presence of a date window.

Under the hood and viewed through the caseback is the in-house Master Chronometer Caliber 8806 Master automatic movement, which essentially just removes the date function from the Caliber 8800 that’s in the current Seamaster models. The watches will have the option for a rubber strap in either black or gray, or a stainless steel mesh bracelet that looks absolutely vintage.
