Within the world of luxury watches, it’s difficult for new brands to break through and gain a foothold among the high-end collector set. After all, in an industry where prestige reigns supreme, competing against watchmakers that have been in business for literally centuries may seem impossible. One newer brand that has managed to defy the odds is MING Watch, which celebrates its fifth anniversary this year as one of the hottest names in the space.
To celebrate its birthday, MING is revisiting one of its most impressive models in a new and exciting way. Last year, the brand unveiled its Mosaic — a timepiece featuring a highly intricate and unique laser-cut, layered, and lumed sapphire dial. That watch was limited to 50 units and priced in the neighborhood of $15,000, and like all MING watches, it sold out almost instantly. Now, the brand is coming out with a new Mosaic, but unlike its predecessor, you might actually be able to get one.
The watch in question is the MING 37.07, and it features an entirely new dialmaking process. While the laser-etched dial of the original Mosaic cost MING more to produce than an entire one of the brand’s entry-level 17 Series watches, the dial of the 37.07 features a similar aesthetic but for a much more reasonable sum. The new watch boasts a three-layer dial made up of a brass base and two layers of sapphire, with applications of Super-LumiNova applied throughout to create a dizzying mosaic effect. The 38mm case is in stainless steel and features several other MING hallmarks, including the luminous ring around the dial, twisted flying lugs, and a customized Sellita for MING SW210.M1 manual-winding movement.
Now for the best part: how to actually get the watch. MING will be selling the 37.07 on its website in two separate 15-minute windows approximately 11 hours apart on July 29. Hypothetically, whoever wants a watch should be able to get one, as MING says everyone who places an order is guaranteed a 37.07 — but we still recommend being first in line as the queue is likely to get very busy.
