While their roots can be traced back to the early 1940s, the U.S. Navy SEALs were first formally acknowledged as a Special Forces unit in 1961 by President Kennedy. The amphibious task force has since become a revered fixture of the United States military, teamed with some of the toughest and most skilled soldiers on the planet. Ever since the brand first debuted over three decades ago, Luminox has been the go-to watchmaker for the SEALs. And in 2020, it debuted the very first timepiece specifically for the Navy SEAL Foundation, which serves to aid veterans as they return from their service. With its latest release, the American brand has reimagined the rugged watch once again.

Sporting the foundation’s logo inside of the bottom subdial, Luminox’s new Navy SEAL Foundation Chronograph features a triple-register chronograph function, activated by two pushers on the outside of the case and powered by a Swiss-made RONDA automatic movement. Like previous iterations, this timepiece is made from a 45mm CARBONOX case boasting 200m of water resistance. Used for just about every Luminox model, CARBONOX is a carbon-based compound that’s both incredibly durable and lightweight. As such, Luminox’s watches are some of the most favorable when it comes to enduring the toughest conditions on Earth.

What’s new for this edition is the aesthetic, coming from the black case, bezel, and dial color, accented with a sand-inspired beige, which has been given to the hands, hour markers, subdials, and numerals on the 60-minute uni-directional bezel. Giving you two style options, the watch is also packaged in a set with either a sand-colored rubber strap or a deep green webbing strap, which evoke the rough sands of the desert or the humid conditions of the jungle, respectively. Of course, the new timepiece also features the brand’s tritium-based Luminox Light Technology lume, which promises up to 25 years of visibility in any light condition.

Available now from Luminox’s website, the new Navy SEAL Foundation Chronograph watch is priced at $645.
