In 2023, G-SHOCK decided to take its rugged yet bulky Mudmaster and make it significantly more wearable. A favorite with overlanders and adventurers, the analog-digital tool watch was now a “mere” 52.1mm across and added a new guard design consisting of a forged metal-carbon hybrid structure.
Now, the Mudmaster has been tapped for yet another collaboration with Toyota, this time looking at the night portion of the Dakar Rally for inspiration.

Racing in the Dark
The GWG-B1000TLC-1A marks the fourth partnership between G-SHOCK and Team Land Cruiser Toyota Auto Body since 2022. Where the 2024 Mudman leaned into red accents borrowed from the Land Cruiser 300 GR Sport, this new Mudmaster takes a moonlit approach, with blacked-out surfaces everywhere and finished with black ion plating. It’s a nod to the grueling night stages of the Dakar Rally, where drivers push through darkness with nothing but their navigation systems and headlights.
Truly one of the best-looking Mudmasters we’ve ever seen, the dial keeps things tactical with multicolor indicators — red, blue, and yellow — pulled straight from the nav displays inside TLC’s rally cars. The seconds hand and inset dial indicators use these same hues against the black face for quick legibility.

Desert at Night
Aside from the dial and case, G-SHOCK textured the bio-based urethane strap to mimic sand dunes, while the gold-tone metal buckle and band loop carry the full-moon motif — a reminder that rally teams spend their nights at bivouac, wrenching on vehicles under floodlights.
Luckily, this is still the same revamped Mudmaster we know and love. At just around 4oz, the GWG-B1000TLC-1A won’t feel like a brick thanks in part to the carbon fiber-reinforced case. To go along with the 52.1mm diameter is a 16.2mm thickness sure to give you plenty of wrist presence. Likewise, mud-sealed buttons and a screw-lock crown protect against the kind of punishment that would destroy lesser watches.

The Mudmaster’s triple-sensor suite (compass, altimeter/barometer, thermometer) makes it a legitimate navigation tool. The Location Indicator function can be paired it with the Casio Watches app to input GPS coordinates so the indicator hand at 3 o’clock can point toward your target. Of course, you also get Tough Solar charging, Multi-Band 6 radio sync, Bluetooth connectivity, and sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating.
