Debuting in 1994, G-SHOCK’s now-iconic DW-001 digital watch line not only perfectly matched the edgy aesthetic at the time but became a gateway into the watch world for many young wearers looking for a utilitarian timepiece that also made a fashion statement.
Now, the Casio sublabel has unveiled a “new evolution” of the famed DW-001, called the G-B001M series. Building off the Capsule Tough design, a groundbreaking method of shock resistance that surrounded the case in resin, the trio of new models — yellow, black-and-silver, and black-and-gold — look strikingly similar to the originals but feature a few new updates, including smartphone compatibility and a reimagined case structure.
Most notably, the bezel gets a full revamp, with the ability to swap it out for another color. The two black watches have urethane and metal bezel options, while the yellow version has two resin bezels and a multicolored metal option. Likewise, the yellow watch gives you the choice to swap out the yellow strap for a blue one.
No pricing has been disclosed yet but it should get a North American release by January. For now, you can head over to G-SHOCK’s website to check out the new G-B001M models.
