The Williams F1 Team & Bremont Partner on a Pair of British Race Watches

Last year, the Bremont Watch Company became the official timing partner to the Williams Racing Formula 1 team. And after a successful 2021 race season, the two British firms have entered another partnership for 2022. Alongside performing the team’s time-keeping duties, the English horologist’s deal with Williams will also include the debut of two all-new racing watches in the form of this year’s Bremont x Williams Racing Collection Watches.

The first of the two new timepieces is the WR-22 (presumably short for “Williams Racing 2022”). Designed in partnership with the F1 team, this chronograph watch is crafted around a 43mm stainless steel case made using trip-tick construction and is powered by a Calibre 13 ¼’’’ BE-53AE Chronometer-rated movement with 27 jewels, a Glucydur balance wheel, an Anachron balance spring, and a 42-hour power reserve. In addition, to proudly wearing the Willaims Racing Team’s signature oxford blue, electric blue, and white livery colors, the WR-22 also features a custom, Williams-logoed decorated tungsten rotor that’s inspired by the wheel designs of the British F1 team. What’s more, each watch is also sold with an included wheel nut sourced from a historic Williams Racing car courtesy of Williams Heritage — the team’s restoration and history division. Equipped with a bi-directional tachymetric bezel in ceramic, the WR-22 is offered with either an Alcantara strap or stainless steel bracelet.

On top of two versions of the WR-22, Bremont has also prepared another race watch to mark the occasion. Christened the FW44 Classic, this racing-inspired non-chrono model boasts a modified Calibre 11 1/2’’’ BE-92AV movement with the same custom rotor design as the WR-22, and a blue Nubuck leather strap. Unlike the WR-22, however, the FW44 Classic can not be purchased alone, as it’s exclusive to the Bremont x Williams Racing Box Set that also includes the WR-22.

Available now in limited numbers, the Bremont WR-22 starts at $6,995 on the strap and goes up to $7,595 for the metal bracelet variant, while the Bremont Williams Racing Box Set has been priced at $16,995. All three watches, it’s worth noting, are handmade in England, as Bremont continues its successful efforts to bring horological manufacturing back to the UK.
