Breitling just secured something no luxury watchmaker has managed in the NFL’s 104-year history: official timepiece partner status. While most Swiss brands chase Formula 1 or tennis partnerships, Breitling went after America’s biggest sporting obsession and landed it. The result is two new collections that finally give the Chronomat GMT the color treatment it deserved, whether you care about football or not.

A Smarter Approach to Team Watches
The 32 Chronomat GMT 40 NFL editions represent a significant course correction from last year’s team chronographs. Where those featured actual team logos on the dial — essentially limiting appeal to die-hard fans — these new GMT models take a far more sophisticated approach.
Each dial showcases a team’s primary color (think Midnight Green for Philadelphia or Montana Red for San Francisco), while the GMT hand carries the secondary color accent. The team logo gets relegated to the caseback engraving.
This shift opens up serious possibilities. You might find yourself drawn to the Packers’ British Racing Green dial or the Bears’ navy and orange combination without caring about their playoff prospects. The Miami Dolphins aqua remains the standout, delivering the kind of vibrant dial color that’s rare in Breitling’s typically restrained palette.

Chronomat’s ’80s DNA Gets Modern Muscle
The Chronomat originally debuted in 1984 as Breitling’s answer to the quartz crisis, built around a design initially created for Italian jet pilots. Those original “Rider Tabs” on the bezel (once interchangeable for countdown timing) are now fixed in place, but the essential character remains intact.
The modern GMT variant houses Breitling’s Caliber 32, an ETA-based movement that keeps costs reasonable while still giving you COSC certification and 42 hours of power reserve. The stainless steel case is still at 40mm across with 200m of water resistance.

The signature Rouleaux bracelet, revived in 2020, adds the proper vintage touch with its tubular steel links. Combined with the unidirectional timing bezel and applied indices, these watches have always felt hefty, but without the bulk that often comes with sports models.

Endurance Pro Takes the Direct Route
For those who actually want team logos front and center, the Endurance Pro collection delivers exactly that. These titanium chronographs feature the emblems in the six o’clock subdial, surrounded by black dials and team-colored pulsometer scales on the inner bezel. At 44mm, they’re decidedly larger, but the lightweight titanium construction and rubber strap should keep things comfortable.
A more overtly sports-focused option, the watch houses the SuperQuartz Caliber 82, while the bidirectional rotating bezel includes compass functionality.
