Despite the fact that you should never drink and drive, the worlds of liquor and automobiles still collide rather often. Take the high-profile collaboration between Bowmore and Aston Martin, or the oil can-inspired Engine Gin. But perhaps the most intriguing product so far has come from the likes of The Macallan and Bentley, whose Horizon whisky was a mere visual concept when it was first unveiled about a year and a half ago. Just in time for The Macallan’s 200th anniversary, we have more information on this wild release, including a price tag and tasting notes for those who can’t afford it.

Back in 2022, the two brands unveiled the first release in their collaboration, but aside from an unusual helixing bottle design, there wasn’t any information about the liquid that was going to be housed inside. Inspired by The Macallan’s “Six Pillars” — the core values that serve as the brand’s foundation — this single malt whisky is bottled at 46.6% ABV, culled from six first-fill sherry seasoned oak casks hand-selected by Master Whisky Maker Kirsteen Campbell. Starting with a nose of polished oak, plums, dark cherries, leather, dried fruits, herbal notes, and a hint of cloves, the expression then brings dark treacle, toffee, crystallized ginger, charred pineapple, vanilla, dark chocolate, and oak spice on the palate.

Crafted from one of the six casks used for the whisky, the 180-degree bottle is designed to lay sideways rather than upright, inspired by Bentley’s Drive Dynamic Control rotary dial and finished with the luxury car brand’s Crown Cut Walnut veneer. The package uses upcycled copper from the distillery’s stills, recycled aluminum from Bentley’s manufacturing, and low-carbon cow leather.
If you’re curious about trying this single malt, however, it won’t come cheap. Priced at $50,000, The Macallan x Bentley Horizon whisky can be purchased through the distillery’s boutique or select retailers.
